Steubenville-Weirton Amateur Radio Club (SWARC)

Welcome the Steubenville-Weirton
Amateur Radio Club website.

Ohio QSO Party - August 27th, Noon to Midnight EDT (we will leave by sunset) - Jefferson State Lake Horsemen's Area - Contact N8GD

OSPOTA (Ohio State Parks on the Air) - September 10th, 10 AM to 6 PM EDT - Jefferson State Lake Horsemen's Area - Contact N8GD

The above events are a chance to operate portable (off the grid) and have a lot of fun doing so!

We plan to have a setup party on site at both of the above events around 8:00 AM.

Directions to Jefferson State Lake Horsemen's Area:

SWARC will participate in the Ohio QSO Party on Saturday, August 27, 2022, and the Ohio State Parks on the Air (OSPOTA) on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at the Jefferson State Lake Horsemen's Area, just north of Richmond, Ohio, off Ohio State Route 43, on Township Road 219.  (DO NOT take the State Lake road [County Road 54] - continue approximately 1.5 miles further north on SR 43 to the Horsemen's Area turnoff, and turn right onto Township Road 219.  The road is marked with a Jefferson State Lake sign (sorry, there is no "DeMartin Auto Body" sign there, as he is retired and out of business!).  Go back about 1/2 mile and turn left into the Horsemen's Area and take the road all the way back to the shelter house.

Below is a link to Google Maps with directions from the center of Richmond, Ohio.  You can get to Richmond by taking US 22 West to the Carrollton/Wintersville Ohio SR 43 exit and turn right at the end of the exit ramp.  After driving about 4 miles northwest on SR 43, you will enter Richmond, Ohio.  From the center of Richmond, drive 2.8 miles north on SR 43 to Township Road 219 and turn right onto that road (there is a sign pointing to Jefferson Lake Park at the entrance to Township 219).  After you get on 219, the entrance to the Horsemen's Area of Jefferson State Lake park is on the left, about 1/2 mile off SR 43, and you will have to wind back among the trees until you see the stone shelter house at the end of the road where we'll be setting up for the Ohio QSO Party or the OSPOTA event.
